Veterans Day Post Office Hours

[ad_1]

Veterans Day is a federal holiday that honors the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. It’s celebrated on November 11th, which falls on a Friday this year. If you usually run your errands on Fridays to get them out of the way before the weekend, you may be wondering, is the post office open on Veterans Day 2022? Here’s everything you need to know about the post office’s holiday schedule so you can plan accordingly.

Is The Post Office Open On Veterans Day?

USPS is a government agency, so it’s usually closed on nationally recognized holidays. Since Veterans Day is a federal holiday, USPS locations will be closed on Friday, November 11th. USPS won’t be delivering any packages or mail on Veterans Day either, so you may have to send your mail a little early to account for this pause in service.

Although you can’t visit your local post office on Veterans Day, you can still access your online USPS account. From there you can schedule package pickups, print shipping labels, and order boxes, stamps, and other mailing supplies. If you just need to send a letter, you can drop it in a mailbox so it can be picked up when service resumes on Saturday. You can use this tool on the USPS website to find a collection box near you.

Additionally, if you need to buy stamps, you can do so at grocery stores, gas stations, and pharmacies, which will most likely be open on Veterans Day.

Will UPS And FedEx Be Open On Veterans Day?

Luckily if you really need to send a package, there are other options besides USPS, including UPS and FedEx. They’ll both be accepting and delivering packages as normal on Veterans Day.

FedEx Office and UPS stores will also be open during regular business hours on the holiday. However, UPS SurePost® and UPS® Mail Innovations deliveries will require an additional day of transit due to Veterans Day. FedEx Ground Economy deliveries may also be delayed.

Post Office Holiday Schedule 2022

If you’re wondering is the post office open on Veterans Day, you may also want to know which other holidays USPS observes. Generally, the post office is closed on Veterans Day and ten other holidays throughout the year, including:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth National Independence Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

Keep in mind that if a holiday falls on a Sunday, it will usually be observed on Monday instead.

UPS is usually a good back-up option if the post office is closed, because it only shuts its doors on four holidays—New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Regular Business Hours

The post office is typically open Monday through Friday from 8 or 9 AM until 5 or 6 PM. Some USPS locations also have limited hours on Saturdays, but always check to confirm your local branch’s schedule, as operating hours can vary from one location to the next. The post office is usually closed on Sundays, but will still deliver certain types of priority packages.
